Home Page

Please follow these instructions when posting blogs:

  1. Select your novel by clicking on one of the Plugged categories (i.e. Peer-Supported, Teacher-Directed, or Self-Directed) found in the upper right-hand corner of your teacher's home page.
  2. Once you have selected the category, you will see an illustration and summary for each of the novels within that category.
  3. Scroll up and down until you find your novel, and click on "comments," located under the summary.
  4. A window will appear with a field that is titled "Leave your comment." Type your comments/questions in that field. Remember, all blogs are public and will be seen by anyone who visits this blog. Responses must be appropriate for school.
  5. When finished, place your curser on the "Choose an Identity" section, and select "Name/URL." All usernames will follow the same format: First Name Last Intitial Block # (Example: MelissaSBlock1)
  6. DO NOT type anything into the URL field.
  7. Click on the orange "publish" button and you are done!
  8. Remember to rate your Self-Selected book!

Help your fellow students select their next Self-Directed novel by rating the novels that you have read. Please follow these instructions and guidelines for rating your first book:

  1. Begin by following the same steps for posting blogs (#1-4 above.)
  2. Instead of typing a comment or question in the field during step 4, type a one sentence rating of your book.
  3. Finish steps 5-7, as listed above.

Guidlines for an appropriate rating:

  • Keep it short and sweet (limit it to one sentence.)
  • Use a five star rating system (1=didn't like it; 5=loved it), and include that in your sentence.
  • Make sure to include something specific that will help students decide whether this book is right for them. Consider language like, "lots of action," "very suspensful," "funny main character," "topics I could relate to," etc.
  • Don't reveal the ending of the book in any way - you don't want to spoil the fun!

Sample rating: I highly recomment The Outsiders because the battle between the greasers and socs reminded me of gang activity in today's society - 5 stars
